Sushi in Stop Motion

After eating an insane amount of sushi today (a great post-gift-shopping linner), I was reminded of a stop motion film my friend Jono produced a while ago.
While the end is a bit creepy (especially for someone who just ate a lot of dynamite rolls), the video is quite clever and quirky. Bon appetit, readers!

Next time you eat sushi think about how it got on your plate…

Tidbit: Have some juice with that sushi.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS SERIES

I bring you the first short in a series of films simply titled The Ten Commandments. Today, we have commandment number 5: Thou Shalt Not Kill. The idea for these films is fairly straight forward. Fruits and vegetables come together to tell the story of the 10 commandments as are found in the King James version of the Bible. With this film specifically, we really just wanted to work with potatoes, tomatoes and mini mallets. “Yeah but why start with 5?” you may be asking yourself. Well, I have no idea why. We just did. This commandment seemed to be a logical beginning to the series for some reason, so we just sort of went with it. If this is any indication of the order that these films will be released, then… there is no order! Hurray! Hope you enjoy it:

Thou Shalt Not Kill was made over the 2009-2010 Christmas [...]

The Human Veggie Experience

Can’t stop (don’t stop) won’t stop the beat,

You can expect that, amidst all of the Vive La Rose hoopla, we will be bringing you a constant stream of content. Today we have another short for you. Here is a little somethin’-somethin’ that I made with some friends a while back in a studio that I built in my parent’s garage in high school. It’s a pretty stripped down simple concept. I’m hungry so I dance around a bit, command some fruit to join me at the table and then I terrify the fruit by cutting open and eating an apple. The film was all done with real human stop-motion. None of that cheating-jump-frame-preset monkey business. This is the real deal people! We shot it in an afternoon. Really goes to show how much you can get done in a day. The music with the short is taken from J Dilla’s [...]
