The Plus Side of Pressure...

Animation in a field driven by deadlines: Everything has a due date, from bidding through rough sketch work to final delivery.  As much as I curse this structure I know that without it, every project would be lost in a never ending spiral of revisions, second guesses, and self criticism. Nothing is ever really “done” unless it has to be. A wise artist once told me that he was like an oven: If you left something in his hands for too long, it would eventually get burnt and end up tasting like shit.

Enter the art opening. Same idea, different medium.

Getting my hands dirty at Leeside...

The hard work and dedication of a handful of strong-backed volunteers (like myself) and skilled concrete finishers continues to produce a unique piece of art in a tunnel on Vancouver’s east side.  Leeside is like a DIY sculpture project designed for skateboarding that’s constantly evolving.  Here are some recent shots of the work we’ve been doing down at the spot over the last few months:
